PDX and the zoo

Last week Sophie and I went to Portland for a visit while Eric was at a training in Boise. We had lots of fun at grandpa and grandma's! We got to visit Great Grandma for an afternoon and we also got to spend some time with Auntie Sara and cousins Charlie, Henry, and William. They joined us for Sophie's first trip to the zoo. Just as we thought, she loved it! The weather was not the warmest but no complaints since we didn't have rain! She was very excited to see all the animals and knew how to say a few of their names. After we'd been there for almost four hours she finally just feel asleep in her stroller. We had a great day and look forward to another zoo visit when she gets a little bigger.

My friend Sally came over to visit and see Sophie and then she and I went to a "toddler-free" dinner! It was nice to catch up with her and I think grandpa and grandma enjoyed their alone time with Sophie.

Silly Sophie

Just a few recent pictures of Sophie. She is already learning to comb her own hair. And she is starting to leave her sunglasses on (at least for a little bit!).

Little Miss

Sophie is getting to be quite independent and becoming very mobile. She can stand up from sitting in the middle of the room and she often will take a few steps on her own. She is starting to climb a lot. She likes to climb on the couch and she has finally figured out the "safe" way to get off the couch (not diving head first like she use to). She enjoys climbing INTO things. We were in her room playing and I walked out for a moment to empty the Diaper Genie and when I came back she had climed in her toy box plastic tote! Then this morning she opened up the bottom drawer of the kitchen stove and she climbed in! Soph is talking TONS. She tries to repeat everything. Now that she talks she is very quick to tell us exactly what she wants or doesn't want! She likes playing with her friend Taylor. I can tell when she plays with her that she is trying to be a "big girl" and do the things that Taylor can do!

Memorial Day Weekend

My dad and his wife came to visit us over Memorial Day weekend. Despite the bad weather we had a good time. They had not seen Sophie since the end of November and they were excited to see how much she had grown. It took her just a little while to warm up to them but after a few minutes she was "picking" Papa's pocket and asking Betty to pick her up! On Saturday we went to Baker City. We saw the house where Papa grew up, ate lunch, and then went to the Oregon Trail Intrepretive Center. The fake people and animals confused Soph a little. She was trying to pet the animals and wanted them to move! On Sunday it was partly sunny so after church Sophie got to go in her swing for a little while (first time in a week because of rain!).
