Eric's 2 week leave

We were so excited to get to have Eric home for two weeks. We weren't sure what to expect Sophie to do when she first saw him. We kind of thought she might be a little standoffish since he is sort of a "new person" to her. However, she went RIGHT to him without any hesitation! I think that Skype really helped her to keep him as a familiar person.

We packed in so many fun activities and trips to two weeks. We went to Boise to Audri's graduation, Wallowa Lake, Portland, the Oregon Zoo, the beach (just mommy and daddy), and of course sometime just spent relaxing at home. We are now counting down the days until we see him again.

Evan's Birthday

Sophie was invited to her friend Evan's 3rd Birthday party. It was a beautiful day for a party in Evan's backyard. The kiddos all had a great time playing with butterfly nets, balls, and crawling through the tunnel.

Children's Museum of Eastern Oregon

We went to the Children's Museum of Eastern Oregon in Pendleton one morning with Angie and Wesley. We were all pleasantly surprised at what a cute (and educational!) little museum they have! The kiddos had a great time exploring all the different areas and exhibits they had. The "grocery store" was of course a big hit!

Visit from Grandpa Ron and Grandma Betty

My dad and his wife were able to come and visit for several days at the begining of May. Even though the weather wasn't great we had a nice visit with them. Sophie warmed up to Grandpa Ron and Grandma Betty very quickly this visit and she even went to the grocery store with them once!

Big girl bed!

Shortly after Sophie's 2nd Birthday she started climbing out of her crib. Because of the danger of her hurting herself while climbing out I decided it was time to transition to a big girl bed. I was nervous about her staying in the bed and getting up and wandering around the house at night. She has done GREAT in it! She calls for me to come get her when she wakes up from nap and in the morning. She basically treats it like a crib! I don't think this will last forever but for now it's great to not have my two year old be TOO independent!

Easter

The Saturday before Easter we went to Riverside Park for the community Easter Egg Hunt. It's safe to say that it was a zoo! Sophie didn't seem to care though. She got four eggs in her basket and then dropped it and clapped her hands and said "I did it!" She didn't seem to care that the other kids (and some parents!) were continuing to fill their baskets with eggs. We met the Gorhams and Graysons there so Sophie got to see Cousin Wesley. We also ran into Sophie's friend Taylor.

Then on Saturday evening Audri arrived to visit us. She was able to stay three nights with us. On Easter Sunday my mom and Larry came over to join us for lunch. Before lunch we colored eggs but it was too rainy out to do an Easter egg hunt in our backyard.

Sophie is 2!

Sophie is 2! Her Minnie Mouse party was lots of fun. Sophie was SUPER excited when she woke up from nap and saw all the balloons and decorations for the party. Unfortunately it was pouring rain so we had to pack everyone in our little house. The kiddos seemed to have a good time doing the craft, pinning the flower on Minnie, and of course eating cupcakes! The only thing missing was daddy. :( We took lots of videos and pictures to show him though. Thanks to my inlaws Dan and Paula for all their help preparing for the party.

Visit to see family

We went and spent 9 days with Eric's parents in Portland at the end of March. They had been in Arizona for 2 1/2 months so we had not seen them since Christmas. Sophie had grown and changed a lot and grandma and grandpa had fun spoiling her while we were there! We also got to see the Golsans while we were there. Sophie enjoyed playing with her big cousins and of course loved the attention from Auntie Sara and Uncle Ken! The weather was pretty rainy while we were there (except one sunny day!) so we took Sophie to the Portland Children's Museum. I took Sophie to it once in February and she liked it so much that I figured she would enjoy it again....and she did! We got to see even more of it since we got there a little earlier and it didn't seem as crowded.

Spring Break

We enjoyed having our friends Gina and two of her daughters Britnee and Haylee come and stay one night with us over their Spring Break. We also got to see my friend Jenny and her family as well when we met them for lunch at Primos. It was Sophie's first arcade "experience" and she LOVED it. I thought she would be too small but Britnee and Haylee helped her to play some of the games. Daddy was happy to find out that basketball was definitely one of her favorites. She also liked Dance Revolution! We also had fun having my cousin's daughter Marissa over for the morning. She and Haylee are the same age and they both were GREAT helpers with Sophie! I need to "rent" a kid that age on a daily basis to help keep Sophie entertained! ;)
